Latte cup soy candle
$60.00
We have teamed up with The Coastal Studio, a small artisan pottery studio in Torbay about 20 minutes from Albany, to bring candles in reusable vessels to you – where the candle container can become your favourite coffee cup for many years for come! Each of the wheel thrown stoneware candle vessels has been made by hand. Small variations in shape, size and glaze are part of its story and individuality and make it a true one-of-a-kind piece. Our latte cup candles are designed to be both beautiful and functional.
The candles have been hand poured with 100% soy wax, a clean burning natural wax that will leave behind minimal waste and is a sustainable resource. The scents have been chosen to complement the vessel colour and are also captured in a light sprinkle of chunky biodegradable glitter. The glitter won’t harm the environment and can remain in the wax whilst burning or be removed before the first burn.
Our latte cup candles will burn for approximately 39-52 hours, depending on the vessel shape, and will fill your home with the delicate aromas of the high quality fragrances that were used. Available in three scents – please select from the drop down below. They also make a great gift! We also offer candles in recycled glass vessels and aluminium tins.
Made in Western Australia from local and imported ingredients. Please note that this is a handmade product, and no two items will be the same. Variations in size, weight and colour will occur, even within the same batch. For this reason, please use the image as a reference only.
Ingredients & weight
INGREDIENTS: 100% soy wax, fragrance, biodegradable glitter
FILL WEIGHT: 200-260g – approximately 39-52h burn time
How to use
BURNING INSTRUCTIONS: Initially burn for minimum of 3 hours, burn no longer than 4 hours at a time. Ensure wax is clean and wicks trimmed to 6-7mm. Ensure the entire top surface of the candle is melted to have your candle burn evenly.
STORAGE: Store your candle in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This will preserve their quality and scent.
WARNINGS: Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never leave burning candle unattended. Vessel will become hot to touch, do not move lit candle and ensure it is placed on heat resistant surface.
CANDLE SPECIFICS: Soy wax is a natural product and depending on fragrances used and other variables, white frosting may develop on top of the wax. At the same time, some fragrances may ‘discolour’ the wax – often creating off-white, cream or light brown shades all over or in some areas, for example the edges only. Both are visual changes to the wax only and won’t impact on the performance of the candle.
Wax removal & pottery care instructions
WAX REMOVAL
Freeze Method: Place the room temperature vessel in the freezer for 1–2 hours, once chilled, the wax will contract and lift slightly from the sides. Gently press or tap the edge to loosen and remove the wax.
Hot Water Method (for glazed interiors only): Fill the room temperature vessel with hot (not boiling) water, leaving space at the top. Allow it to sit — the heat will melt the wax, which will rise and solidify as it cools. Once fully cool, lift out the wax disc and discard responsibly (avoid pouring melted wax down drains).
Clean Up: Wipe away any residue with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid using boiling water or harsh abrasives, which may stress or dull the glaze.
Just as with cooking use, avoid exposing your pottery to sudden temperature changes. Allow the vessel to adjust gradually between hot and cold to prevent thermal shock and cracking.
EVERYDAY USE
- All pieces designed for food or drinks are food safe, non-toxic, and designed for everyday enjoyment.
- To avoid cracks, do not expose to sudden temperature changes — for example, from refrigerator to oven or from hot water to cold. Instead allow your pottery to warm or cool gradually to keep it strong and intact.
- Safe for use in the microwave and conventional oven if pre-warmed gradually (avoid putting cold pottery into a hot oven).
- Do not use over an open flame or direct stove top heat.
- Use caution if and when stacking, due to the more delicate fragile nature of finer thrown objects.
CLEANING
- Use warm water, mild detergent, and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid harsh scrubbers or metal scouring pads, as they can dull or mark the glaze.
- For matte glazes, gentle care keeps the surface smooth and mark-free.
- Most pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, but to prolong their life, handwashing is recommended. If fine crazing is present but the item is dishwasher leaned, the piece is still food safe.
- Light marks from cutlery can sometimes occur on matte, satin or light-colored glazes. These may be removed with a gentle cleanser such a cream cleaning solution or a paste of baking soda and water.
